GQ Wraps Up 2012 With Augmented December Men Of The Year Issue

Following the successful launch of its industry-first “live” September issue, world-renowned men’s general-interest
magazine GQ is offering an array of augmented reality content in its coveted December “Men Of The Year Issue.

After downloading GQ Live on a smartphone or tablet, readers can simply point their viewfinder at the printed magazine to watch the pages of the Men Of The Year Issuecome to life with rich interactive content. GQ dedicated several full page ads to promoting GQ Live with app instructions and a table of “live” content. Additionally, the signature GQ Live app icon appears on select pages throughout the issue, reminding the reader that there is discoverable digital content on that page.

Exclusive augmented reality experiences are distributed throughout the December issue’s contents. To start, the issue’s three covers – each featuring a different superstar (Channing Tatum, Ben Affleck, and Rihanna) – come to life with exclusive sneak peeks of the issue and behind-the-scenes clips of the Men of the Year photo shoots. Inside, readers can use GQ Live to access digital footage of the cover celebrities, a music video from the “Rock ‘N’ Roller of the Year” Father John Misty, a special video from NASA’s Mars rover team, and other great extras. Among the 25 augmented advertisements in the issue are those from brands such as Geico, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and Ray-Ban.
